Windows failed to start error is thrown after booting to newly installed automation partition

After installing an automation partition to certain hardware - currently known on Lenovo t710, e430 and dell 990 - the system will not boot into automation: Windows failed to start error.
When automation folders are installed, a new entry is added to the BCD store that looks like the image below. The device and OSDevice either use [boot] (as shown below) or [c:]. When [boot] is used, the operating system evaluates [boot] and provides the proper resolution to the WIM files. For some reason, there are times when [boot] doesn't properly evaluate and windows cannot find the WIM file and the automation folder will not load. Please note that on most systems, [boot] evaluates correctly and the issue does not occur.
If the error occurs, boot back into Windows and run the following commands:
