When you connect a mobile phone or tablet to a Windows machine, you have the option of accessing the files and folders on the device.
However, when you copy a file to the device, Removable Media Encryption does not encrypt it.
In addition, if Removable Media Encryption is configured to copy the Removable Media Access Utility to removable media, this does not occur.
Mobile phones and tablets are accessed by Windows using the Media Transfer Protocol (MTP) or Picture Transfer Protocol (PTP). Unlike the USB mass storage device class, these protocols do not expose the filesystem of the device to Windows.
Devices connected using these protocols do not appear in Windows Disk Management and are not recognized by Endpoint Encryption Removable Media Encryption as storage volumes. Therefore, files copied to these devices are not encrypted and the Removable Media Access Utility is not copied to these devices.
