The Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager (SEPM) server's connection attempt failed with a return code of 1814, "LiveUpdate could not retrieve the catalog file of available Symantec product and component updates." This SEPM is a replication partner of another SEPM on a different site. Only one site has internet access.
The Replication Site is configured to take the updates from Symantec LiveUpdate Server, though it usually receives new content from its Replication partner SEPM in the Primary Location. When running Luall.exe or LiveUpdate from the Replication Site SEPM, it concludes with error message LU1814 and Return value 4.
When checking the settings of primary SEPM, Replication was showing as failed. The Primary Server was not able to ping or establish telnet session with Replication site and so was not able to distribute the LiveUpdate content.
The following troubleshooting checks should enable the two sites to begin replicating once again and content on the SEPM to update:
Once the issue is resolved, the Replication Site SEPM will get updated to latest content and will distribute the content to the SEP clients it manages.
