Bootwiz.exe process doesn't start to (re)-compile Preboot image

Issue/Introduction

A new preboot image has been defined or new drivers have been added to existing ones but the preboot image is not being recompiled.

In the Windows Task manager the process for bootwiz.exe does not show up.

No specific error message. The boot images are not being created/updated.

Cause

The deployment task handler is corrupted.

Resolution

Reinstalling the Deployment Task Handler should resolve the issue.

Option 1:

Run a repair on the msi, by right-clicking on the msi and selecting repair.

Default install location:     C:\Program Files\Altiris\Notification Server\NSCap\bin\Win64\x64\Deployment\Task Server Handler\altiris_deploymentsolutiontaskserverhandler_7_1_sp2_mp1_x64.msi

 

Option 2:

Perform a complete reinstall from cmd line.

Open cmd line & navigate to the install path of msi.

Run the command:  msiexec /u "altiris_deploymentsolutiontaskhandler_7_1_sp2_mp1_x64.msi" skipaim=1

Then run command: msiexec /i "altiris_deploymentsoltuiontaskhandler_7_1_sp2_mp1_x64.msi" skipaim=1
