This article details how to restore a backup to Encryption Management Server (previously PGP Universal Server).


Encryption Management Server allows administrators to restore a full backup of the server or in the event of a minor problem, you can restore the server from any saved backup. Restoring from a backup restores everything configured, including proxy and policy settings, as well as keys and user information.

To restore a server backup file

  1. Log into the Encryption Management Server administrative interface.
  2. Click System > Backups. The available backups are displayed.

    Note: You can also upload additional backups by clicking Upload Backup. By default, the server shows only the 5 latest backups.
  3. Click the arrow icon next to the desired backup file.

    Warning: Restoring a backup will replace all existing server data with the backup copy and possibly render some email unreadable.
  4. Click OK. The Restore Backup progress screen is displayed.

After the restore is complete, you are redirected to the administration console login screen.
