When clicking on any of the tabs in the NS Console, an error appears in Microsoft Internet Explorer that states, "An error occurred constructing the tree from the XML provided by the server: An error occurred retrieving the tree XML from the server." No information is displayed on the tabs
Malformed temporary internet files.
.NET Framework 1.1 needs to be updated to SP1.
.NET Framwork has been upgraded to 2.x
If the files located in Start > Control Panel > Internet Options > General tab > Temporary Internet Files section > Settings button > View Objects button are malformed.
If SP1 for .NET is not installed (see resolution for details).
To resolve cause one, delete the following files:
Note: .CAB file locations are given as a reference, but do not need to be replaced as part of the repair process. <drive>:\\Program Files\Altiris\Notification Server\NSCap\Bin\Win32\X86 directory.)
(The AppWeavercontols.CAB file is found in <drive>:\\Program Files\Altiris\Notification Server\Includes or <drive>:\\Program Files\Altiris\eXpress Deployment Web Console\DSWeb\utils directory).
Note: If you cannot find the files in the above specified location, try searching the install drive and C if C is not the operating system drive for the files (Standard Windows file search). Note: The deleted files will be re-created when you enter the NS Console.
Verify that the .NET Framework 1.1 has the SP1 patch applied. The update for .NET Framework 1.1 can be found here. Once you're at the page, scroll down to the ".NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1" or the ".NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1 for Windows Server 2003," links and follow the directions.
After the service pack has been applied, it may be necessary to run a repair on the Notification Server. To do this, go to Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs > Altiris Notification Server 6.0 > click Change > Next > select Repair. Run through the repair.
Server will need to be rebuilt, cannot back rev. to 1.1 of .NET.
