Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) 14 includes some new features and drops support for some existing features. Administrators who plan to move to version 14 should know which features are no longer supported, so that they can plan in advance for these changes.
For version 14:
To migrate Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager 11.x or Small Business Edition 12.0 to the next major release, you must first migrate to 12.1.x. 12.1 RU6 MP3 or later is recommended.
However, you can directly upgrade clients to 14 that run Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.x and Symantec Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition 12.0.
Symantec no longer supports content for Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.x, and 11.x clients cannot update with 12.1 content. To continue to receive content from the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager, you must upgrade these clients to 12.1 or later. You should upgrade all 11.x clients to 12.1 or later, even if they receive content through another channel.
Symantec Endpoint Protection no longer supports the use of vShield-enabled Shared Insight Cache and Security Virtual Appliance. Alternatives include network-based Shared Insight Cache or Symantec Endpoint Protection for VDI. See the following related articles for more information.
