Red Hat Subscription Management (RHSM) replaced Red Hat Network (RHN) Classic for importing updates following ITMS 7.6+ and later releases as older updates, bulletins, and channels were removed during the upgrade from ITMS 7.6 to later versions. The reason being that RHSM no longer supports those older operating systems. as the differences between RHN Classic and RHSM are detailed on https://access.redhat.com/articles/63269
NOTE: Before the Import Patch Data for Red Hat can be executed; the admin MUST import the updated list of currently supported software channels. During import of the channels, the new consumer is registered in RHSM for each OS, and all available subscriptions are assigned to the consumer. This will take place without having any further manual intervention from the Administrator.
Caution: The following optional processes are for review by Advanced Red Hat Administrators, for the process to import Channels is managed by the automated process in the Import Channels on the Import Patch Data for Red Hat per User's Guides: 7.6-DOC7969, 8.0-DOC8638 or 8.1-DOC9607.

Caution: It is not necessary to edit this registry as this is merely the location of stored items being published for review if needed
Note: Excluding the unwanted Channels increases the speed of the Import Channels process. After you change the value, it is used the next time the Import channels task runs. Obsolete channels are removed when the task runs with the option Delete data for excluded channels enabled. Additionally, if you don’t know the value of a particular field, you can skip it using the mask ‘.*’
