Issue/Introduction

After applying one of the hotfix builds (listed below) to address the Endpoint Protection (SEP) system tray icon reports multiple errors after applying Windows security updates from 1/3/2018, the SEP client user interface hangs or crashes.  One or more of the following processes may crash:

  • ccSvcHst.exe
  • SymCorpUI.exe
  • SmcGUI.exe

Environment

Hotfix builds affected:

  • 12.1.7384.6902
  • 14.0.2455.0206
  • 14.0.3775.1002
  • 14.0.3892.1101

Resolution

SEP 14.0.3897.1101 (14.0.1 MP1) and 12.1.7385.6902 have been released to resolve this issue.  To Download the latest version of Symantec Endpoint Protection.  If the builds are not visible in FileConnect, please contact support to download the necessary builds.
