Installation of MS Credential Provider plugin does not go further when asked to select Configuration File

Issue/Introduction

Customer is trying to install the Microsoft Credential Provider Plug-in on Windows Server 2008 R2 64-bit edition. During the installation, customer clicks the browse button to select the configuration file and nothing happens. He has tried two different VM servers.

Cause

Software Requirement was not met.

 

Resolution

Suggested customer to install the Software Requirement before installing the Plug-in.

Software Requirements
• Visual C++ 2010 x86 Redistributable (for 32 bit operating system)
• Visual C++ 2010 x64 Redistributable (for 64 bit operating system)

Please refer to the first page of the integration guide where it suggests to install the software in accordance with your operating system (64 bit OR 32 bit).
