Warning: Recovery Disks are only supported for use on non-UEFI bootable operating systems or Windows 7 and Windows XP. For Windows 8 systems using UEFI, see article HOWTO85018 to recover the system using a USB drive.

Download the Drive Encryption recovery disk image for the version of your Encryption Desktop.
Warning: When performing disk recovery, please confirm you are using the correct recovery CD for your version of Encryption Desktop.
Note that recovery disks work only with the version of Encryption Desktop that created the recovery disk. For example, if you attempt to use a 9.x recovery disk to decrypt a disk protected with version 10.x, any data on the encrypted 10.x disk will be unrecoverable.
The recovery image ISO can also be found on a machine with Encryption Desktop installed. As with downloading the images, be sure to take the ISO file from a machine with the same version as the machine you are trying to recover! The location on an installed Encryption Desktop client is:
C:\Program Files\PGP Corporation\PGP Desktop\bootg.iso (Windows 32 bit machines)
C:\Program Files (x86)\PGP Corporation\PGP Desktop\bootg.iso (Windows 64 bit machines)
Caution: Once you have started to decrypt a disk or partition using a recovery disc or diskette, do not stop the decryption process. Depending on the size of the disk being decrypted, this process can take a long time. A faster way to decrypt the drive is to use another system that has the same version of Encryption Desktop installed on it.
