Issue/Introduction

Microsoft Outlook 2007 (or later) with Symantec Endpoint Protection client and email tools.

When you send emails with attachments (regardless of size), the email fails to send and returns a popup error code 1003,8.

Your message to "<user>" "<email_address> with the subject of <email_subject>
was unable to be sent because the connection to your mail server was interrupted.
Please open your email client and re-send the message from the Sent Messages folder

Cause

Communication issues with the mail server. For example, this issue can happen if the mail hosting company changes authentication settings to prevent sending SMTP emails through a 3rd party provider.

Resolution

- Change the email settings (SMTP server) to reflect any changes.

- Remove the email tools or improve the connectivity to the mail server.
