You want to know how to enforce the usage of credentials to access the Spam Quarantine in Symantec Brightmail Gateway (SBG).
Default behaviour is that when end users receive the Quarantine Summary notification email, they can access the Quarantine directly without the need to provide any credentials just by clicking on the "Release" or the "View" link included on the email.
By default, the Quarantine Summary notification email sent by SBG includes links that allows end users to skip the step of entering their credentials before accessing the Spam Quarantine. This link can be removed from the template by changing the default configuration for the Quarantine Summary emails, forcing users to supply the credentials to access the Spam Quarantine.
The notification can be modified by the administrator via the SBG Control Center GUI.
Open the Control Center interface on your browser.
1. Click on Spam
2. Click on Settings
3. Click on Quarantine Settings
4. Click the Include View Link check box making sure is disabled
5. Click the Include Release Link check box making sure is disabled
End users will receive now the Quarantine Summary emails without embedded credentials. They can access the Quarantine by following the link that is included by default on all the notifications.
