In April 2018, Symantec launched a new Entitlement Management Capability that is called the Account-Based Entitlement View (ABEV) located within the ‘My Products’ tab in MySymantec.

Customers can now see all their entitlements that are listed under the account that they were purchased. They also gain access to their software and license keys without having to register any serial numbers.

Resellers & Partners can now see all entitlements that they resold to their end customers enabling more on time renewals.

Effective November 18th, 2018, Symantec will introduce a new self-service Software Download capability within MySymantec that allows customers to download their software directly from the product details page within the ABEV instead of having to go to the FileConnect software download portal. 

Click https://mysymantec.force.com/customer/s/ and enter your credentials to sign in your MySymantec account or if you don’t have an account then select ‘Create An Account’ and follow the instructions to create a new account.

 

Customer Purchase Cycle

Customers purchase Symantec products typically by a channel. Symantec fulfills the purchase by sending a license key and a welcome letter containing instructions for accessing the product software by the legacy software download portal.

This new capability allows customers to download the product software directly from the ABEV by the product details page as shown:

 

Download Software Tab

Before November 2018, the ‘Download Software’ tab contains a button that takes the user to the legacy software download portal in a separate browser window. This process led to a disjointed user experience as shown:

The November release now displays the download capability within the product details tab itself thereby providing a frictionless download experience as shown:

The file selection and download experience are identical to the legacy software download portal. This process means that customers do not have to learn any new procedures.

The user selects either the ‘Recommended Files’ or the ‘Archive’ tab followed by the desired language (where available) before the file download section as shown:

The file download section contains product description highlighting the key features of the product, links to product documentation, and a file filter. These options reduce the size of the file selection table.

After all the required files for download are selected, customers must accept the EULA to enable the download button. When pressed, the download button completse the process.

For an entitlement that contains multiple products, the download software tab displays them all in a screen similar to the following:
