Telco Cloud Service Assurance : New Feature added for automatic uploads of dynamic models to TCSA UI

Issue/Introduction

To allow automatic uploads of dynamic models from TCSA 2.3 Presentation SAM to TCSA UI.  This new functionality is detailed in the TCSA 2.3 config guide (https://docs.vmware.com/en/VMware-Telco-Cloud-Service-Assurance/2.3.0/vmware-tcsa-230-config-guide.pdf) under the "Automatic Dynamic Model Sync" section.

Symptoms:

New Feature introduced in TCSA 2.3 that allows for automatic uploads of dynamic models from TCSA 2.3 Presentation SAM to TCSA UI. 

Resolution

To enable supported VSA SAM versions (10.1.7, 10.1.9 and 10.1.12) to work with TCSA 2.3 UI, specific steps need to be followed. Please note that the TCSA UI should always be version 2.3. Steps for implementation detailed as follows:
 

1. Download the 'dynamic-model-sync.tar' file attached to this KB article.

2. Place the downloaded tar file in the Presentation SAM domain manager directory, i.e., <BASEDIR>/SAM/smarts directory.

3. Extract the contents of the tar file using the following command: tar -xvf dynamic-model-sync.tar

4. Follow all the prerequisites mentioned in TCSA 2.3 config guide (https://docs.vmware.com/en/VMware-Telco-Cloud-Service-Assurance/2.3.0/vmware-tcsa-230-config-guide.pdf) under the "Automatic Dynamic Model Sync" section.

5. Restart the Presentation SAM domain manager.

6. After the restart, either add the domain manager in TCSA UI 2.3 or go to Administration > Configuration > Collectors and Connectors > Smarts Integrations.

7. Click on the ellipsis symbol (vertical dots) next to a specific Broker Name and select "Details"

8. Again, click on the ellipsis symbol next to the Presentation SAM and choose "Sync Dynamic Model"

9. Use the Tasks page to monitor the progress of the Dynamic Model sync.

Additional Information

Impact/Risks:

Presently, this feature exclusively functions with TCSA 2.3 SAM domain manager and TCSA 2.3 UI. However, through this knowledge base article, we aim to expand the usage of this functionality to supported versions (10.1.7, 10.1.9 and 10.1.12) of VSA SAM with TCSA 2.3.
