Windows Arm Virtual Machines encounter either BSOD with DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION or hang

Issue/Introduction

VMTools 12.3.5 adds a configuration option that can be set which may delay or prevent the BSOD or hang from ocurring. Users can add the following entry in the Virtual machines .vmx file:
guestInfo.svga.wddm.blockingPreemptEvent="TRUE"

Symptoms:
Users may encounter either a BSOD with DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION or hang, with VMTools 12.3.0 or 12.3.5 installed on a Windows 11 ARM VM on Fusion 13.x. This occurs with 3D games or resizing a remote desktop window.

Environment

VMware Tools 12.3.0
VMware Tools 12.3.5

Cause

Guest graphics driver issue on ARM.

Resolution

Currently there is no resolution to the issue. This will be fixed in a future release.


Workaround:

To workaround the issue, please disable 3D.
