Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

After downloading the install binaries for vRealize Operations versions 8.5/8.6 from My VMware in vRSLCM, the installation of vRealize operations fails with the below error code:

 Error Code: LCMVSPHERECONFIG1000087
Exception occurred while deploying ovf. Invalid argument provided.
Invalid argument provided for ovf deployment.

Environment

VMware vRealize Operations 8.6.x
VMware vRealize Operations 8.5.x

Cause

vRealize Operations versions 8.5/8.6 includes 2 binaries (for vROps and Cloud Proxy). The source mapping logic in vRSLCM had a logical flaw in performing the mapping of the binaries causing the error.

Note: The install issue does not occur with prior versions of vRealize Operations. Also it does not affect the upgrade of vRealize Operations for any versions.

Resolution

Recommend to follow the workaround for now

Workaround:

Use alternate ways of mapping the install binary like Local/NFS or by enabling the content library mapping

  1.   Download the vROPS binaries from My VMware, and place it in a shared location like NFS or in vRSLCM VA.
  2.   Navigate to vRSLCM ‘Settings Page -> Binary Mapping’
  3.   Select to add binary by selecting ‘Location Type’ as either ‘Local’ or ‘NFS’
  4.   Trigger the vROPS installation

Note: Please see documentation  link for different ways in which binaries can be mapped in vRSLCM
