Issue/Introduction

This article list the impacts of the vSphere Cluster Services on storage workflows and its resolution.

Symptoms:

• Entering Maintenance Mode task stuck or does not progress and fails for VMFS, NFS and vVols datastores.
• Unmount or detaching a VMFS, NFS and vVols datastore fails.
• vVols datastores do not automatically recover (or connect back) on affected hosts after the PDL event remediation.
• vCLS VMs residing on a vSAN datastore becomes inaccessible after disabling vSAN on a cluster.

Environment

VMware vSphere 7.0.x

Cause

This issue may occur due to storage related issues with vSphere Cluster Services (vCLS). For more information, see vSphere Cluster Services in vSphere 7.0 Update 1.
