Mapping binaries for the scale out of patched products in vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager

Issue/Introduction

Scaling out patched products from vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager(vRSLCM) could fail. This is because joining the cluster fails owing to version mismatch in the product appliances. This requires the corresponding binaries to be mapped in vRSLCM

Note: This KB is applicable for vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager 8.1.0 Patch 1.

Environment

VMware vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager 8.1.x

Resolution

Follow the below mentioned steps to map the binaries:

1. Download the required binaries:
   1. Binaries required for scaleout are hosted here.
   2. Filter the binaries based on the product and product version on which the scaleout is tried on .
   3. Choose the appropriate ".ovabundle" file based on the product patch level and download the file.
2. Source Mapping the binaries:
   1. Ensure the binaries are copied to vRSLCM VA
   2. Navigate to settings-> Binary Mapping-> Patched Product Binaries in vRSLCM.
   3. Click on ADD PATCHED BINARY, give the directory location on vRSLCM VA where the binaries are downloaded.
   4. Select the required ova bundle to be Mapped and click on ADD.
   5. Redirect to the request link to track the progress of the request.
   6. Verify the new binary mapping listed in settings->Binary Mapping->Patched Product Binaries
3. Re-try scaleout on the patched product.
