Issue/Introduction
Symptoms: While using Intel NIC 82599/X520 in below scenarios:
Enable SR-IOV on vmnic and passthrough VF to guest VM1.
Associate a port group VLAN trunk mode(VLAN ID 4095) with the VF to the guest VM1.
Create VLAN interfaces inside of the guest VM1 based on the VF(maybe driven by ixgbevf in guest OS).
Another guest VM2 is using emulated network interface vmxnet3 with aslo a port group in VLAN trunk mode and has the same VLAN ID interfaces with guest VM1 inside.
There network maybe not be accessible between the VLAN interfaces in VM1 and VM2 which has the same VLAN ID.
Environment
VMware vSphere ESXi 7.0.0
Cause
82599/X520 adapters lack a HW feature that allows the driver to configure VLAN trunk mode for loopback traffic in the emulated data path.
Resolution
This is a known issue. Currently, we have no resolution or workaround.
