Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
  • Creating a new Edge or upgrading an existing one fails.
  • Installing NSX VIBs on unprepared host fails.
  • Inside the Networking and Security tab of the vCenter Server, navigating to the 'NSX Home' tab and clicking on summary, the license key shows up as '00000-00000-00000-00000-00000' instead of the previously assigned license key.

Environment

VMware NSX for vSphere 6.4.x

Cause

This issue occurs because the NTP servers of the NSX Manager and the Platform Services Controller (PSC) is not in sync.

Resolution

This is a known issue affecting VMware NSX for vSphere 6.4.1.

Currently, there is no resolution.

Workaround:
To work around this issue:
  1. Re-configure the NTP server for the NSX Manager.
  2. Reboot the NSX Manager once completed.
  3. If the time difference persists, manuall set the time to match that of the Platform Services Controller (PSC).
  4. Re-register the NSX Manager with the vCenter Server.
Note: Ideally, the same NTP server should be used for the entire environment to avoid such issues.
