Resolution

This issue is resolved in VMware NSX for vSphere 6.3.6

Workaround:
Important: Upgrading from NSX 6.2.0, 6.2.1 and 6.2.2 directly to NSX 6.3.5 and later versions including 6.4.x is not supported.

If you have already encountered this issue:

  • If you have the Backup of the NSX Manager (Taken at 6.2.0/6.2.1/6.2.2), deploy a new NSX Manager VM and restore the backup. For more information, see the NSX Backup and Restore section of the NSX Upgrade Guide.
  • If there are no backup available, contact Broadcom Support.

Important: Always take a backup of the NSX Manager before proceeding with an upgrade.

After the NSX Manager is restored, upgrade it to any of the version between 6.2.4 to 6.3.4 and then upgrade to NSX for vSphere 6.3.5. VMware recommends upgrading to the latest version of 6.2.x which is 6.2.9 and then upgrade to 6.3.5. Once the NSX Manager is upgraded to 6.3.5, upgrade all the services.

Upgrade Steps:

  1. Upgrade NSX Manager to 6.2.9. Upgrading NSX Manager is sufficient, do not upgrade NSX component.
  2. Once upgrade to 6.2.9 is complete, upgrade to 6.3.5 or later.
  3. Now proceed with NSX component upgrades.

For more information, see the VMware Product Interoperability Matrices for the supported upgrade paths to NSX for vSphere.
