Installing VMware Fusion triggers System Extension Blocked notification on macOS High Sierra, Mojave and Catalina

Issue/Introduction

To allow VMware Fusion as a trusted install on macOS Mac OS High Sierra, Mojave and Catalina.

Symptoms:

• When installing VMware Fusion on Mac OS macOS High Sierra, Mojave and Catalina, you see error similar to:

System Extension Blocked

A program tried to load new system extension(s) signed by VMware, Inc.. If you want to enable these extensions, open Security & Privacy System Preferences.

Environment

VMware Fusion Pro 11.x
VMware Fusion 10.x
VMware Fusion 11.x
VMware Fusion Pro 10.x

Cause

This issue occurs on macOS High Sierra, Mojave and Catalina as Apple requires 3rd Party Kernel extensions to be manually enabled.

Resolution

To resolve the issue follow the steps below::

1. Open the VMware Fusion.dmg file to start install.
2. Once you agree to the License agreement, you see this message:
   
   System Extension Blocked
   A program tried to load new system extension(s) signed by "VMware, Inc.".If you want to enable these extensions, open Security & Privacy System Preferences.
    
3. Click Ok on the message.
4. Navigate to System Preferences > Security & Privacy on the host macOS (High Sierra, Mojave and Catalina).
5. Under the General tab towards the bottom of the window, you see error similar to:
   
   “System software from vendor “VMware, Inc.” was blocked from loading.” with option to click on “Allow”.
    
6. Click Allow.

Note: You need Admin Privileges to allow the application.

Impact/Risks:
If the Security & Privacy System Preferences is not changed to allow the application from getting installed, while the macOS can allow one to create a Virtual Machine the Launch can trigger an error:
 

“Cannot find a valid peer process to connect to”
