Issue/Introduction

This article resolves issues with having the EAP and CIP plugins installed on vCenter Server 6.5.

Symptoms:
  • The vCenter Server has the CIP and Enhanced Authentication Plug-in (EAP) installed.
  • The Use Windows session authentication check box is unavailable in the vSphere Web Client.
  • EAP fails if you install 6.0 CIP first and then install EAP 6.5.
  • CIP fails if you install EAP 6.5 first and then 6.0 install CIP.


Environment

VMware vCenter Server 6.0.x
VMware vCenter Server 6.5.x
VMware vCenter Server Appliance 6.0.x
VMware vCenter Server Appliance 6.5.x

Cause

( C:\ProgramData\VMware\CIP\csd\ssl) and finds the certs are already there and does not install its certs and causing the browser to not trust the second plugin.

Resolution

This issue is resolved in vSphere 6.5 U1.
 
To work around this issue, uninstall any installed CIP plugins.
