Issue/Introduction

This article provides steps to perform a silent installation of VMware Workstation 12.x and above on Windows through command line.

Environment

VMware Workstation Pro 15.x (Windows)
VMware Workstation Pro 14.x (for Windows)

Resolution

You can use the silent install feature of VMware Workstation 12.x and above on Windows host systems without having to respond to wizard prompts. This feature is convenient in a large enterprise.
 
To perform a silent installation of VMware Workstation 12.x and above on Windows through command line:
  1. Log in to the host system as the Administrator user or as a user who is a member of the local Administrators group. If you log in to the domain, the domain account must also be a local administrator.
  2. Open a command prompt.

  3. Change directory to the folder where the VMware Workstation installer is located.

    For example: cd C:\Downloads\
     
  4. Run this command to install VMware Workstation:

    VMware-workstation-full-xxxx-xxxx.exe /s /v"/qn EULAS_AGREED=1 SERIALNUMBER=xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx"
