Resolution

Q: What does the Performance Service - Performance data collection check do?

A: This check verifies that the vSAN performance service statistics collection is working correctly.
It verifies that statistics were recently collected within the cluster to ensure that the statistics collection loop is working.
It also verifies that the underlying storage and databases are working, by verifying that the collected statistics can be written to the storage in a timely manner.

Q: What does it mean when it is in an error state?

A: Statistics are collected at regular intervals, such as every 5 minutes.
If statistics collection or writing to storage has failed for three consecutive intervals, this check appears Red.

Q: How does one troubleshoot and fix the error state?

A: If either of these tests keeps failing, check the following:
- Health of the vSAN Datastore and its physical disks
- Network Health
- Review vSAN health Performance data collection fails (50100301)
- Health of the vSAN Stats DB Object
Seen in the vCenter Web Client --> vSAN Cluster --> Monitor --> Skyline Health --> Performance service --> Stats DB object

--> If all of these items are healthy, contact VMware Support and file a Support Request.
