After updating Mozilla Firefox to Version 39 or later, VMware vSphere Web Client Integration Plugin 6.0 no longer functions

Issue/Introduction
Symptoms: After upgrading Mozilla Firefox to Version 39 or later, you experience these symptoms:
You are repeatedly prompted to download the Client Integration Plug-in when opening the vSphere Web Client page
Deploying an OVF template displays this message:
Client Integration Plug-in must be installed to enable OVF functionality
Uploading a Local File through the Storage > Manage > Files Browser displays:
Install the Client Integration Plug-in to enable file transfer
When connecting to the vSphere Web Client (location: https://FQDN_of_vCenter/vsphere-client ), the Use Windows session authentication option is grayed out
When connecting to the vSphere Web Client, attempting to use the Use Windows session authentication option fails with the error:
Windows Session Authentication login has failed as a result of an error caused by the VMware Client Integration Plugin
You cannot open the virtual machine console
You cannot deploy OVF templates from your desktop via OVF Deployment's Local File option
When attempting to deploy an OVF template you see the message:
Client Integration Plug-in must be installed to enable OVF functionality
When attempting to upload a local file through the Storage > Manage > Files Browser, you see the message:
Install the Client Integration Plug-in to enable file transfer
