Issue/Introduction

You experience symptoms similiar to the following:
  • Interrupt remapping is disabled.
  • Vmkernel.log contains:
    BIOS bug: Not all IO-APICs are listed in the DMAR. Not enabling interrupt remapping on this platform.
    This message is displayed because interrupt remapping is disabled on the system. Interrupt remapping has been disabled because the BIOS reported an invalid listing for IOAPICs that are present on the platform.

    Impact
    Interrupt remapping is useful for increased security and isolation of virtual machine environments.

VMware vSphere ESXi 5.0

Resolution

To resolve this issue, update the BIOS on the platform or contact the BIOS vendor to address the IOAPIC listing error.
