VMware vCenter Server VMware vSphere ESXi

An application running on ESXi fails. A core file is generated as a result of the crash.

The /sbin/coredump application crashes. The following warning event appears in the vSphere Client:

An application (/sbin/coredump) running on ESXi host has crashed (1 time(s) so far). A core file might have been created at /var/core/coredump-zdump000.

This message appears even if the attempt to write the core file fails due to a storage error.

Most of the critical applications running on ESXi are automatically restarted. As a result, significant impact is unlikely.
