Not receiving SNMP trap notifications

Issue/Introduction

• TCPDUMP reveals similar packet: 
  ##:##:##:##### eth0 Out IP (tos 0x0, ttl 64, id 43755, offset 0, flags [+], proto UDP (17), length 1500) vro007no.sjrb.ad.36242 > <serverName>.snmptrap: [len1468<asnlen1725]
• Do receive test SNMP notification

 

Environment

Aria Ops, vROps: 8.14

TCP: 5.x

Cause

This details a UDP fragmentation issue which appears to be due to the SNMP packet being sent exceeding the standard MTU of 1500 bytes. 

 

Resolution

Enable jumbo frames (MTU 9000) between all Ops nodes and the desired endpoint to allow the SNMP trap to transmit without fragmentation.
