Issue/Introduction
App Control console gives error:
The Carbon Black App Control console cannot connect to the database. Ensure that the database server is running.
\Bit9\Parity Console\WebUI\Logs\php_errors.log shows the error:
DB Error: [Microsoft][ODBC Driver 18 for SQL Server]SSL Provider: The certificate chain was issued by an authority that is not trusted.
\Bit9\Parity Server\ServerLog.bt9 may also show these errors.
Connection attempt failed: [Microsoft][SQL Server Native Client 11.0]Client unable to establish connection because an error was encountered during handshakes before login. Common causes include client attempting to connect to an unsupported version of SQL Server, server too busy to accept new connections or a resource limitation (memory or maximum allowed connections) on the server.
[Microsoft][SQL Server Native Client 11.0]Shared Memory Provider: No process is on the other end of the pipe.
[Microsoft][SQL Server Native Client 11.0]Client unable to establish connection
[Microsoft][SQL Server Native Client 11.0]Invalid connection string attribute

Connection attempt failed: [Microsoft][SQL Server Native Client 11.0]TCP Provider: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it.
[Microsoft][SQL Server Native Client 11.0][SQL Server]Login failed for user '<DBUSER>'. Reason: Server is in single user mode. Only one administrator can connect at this time.
Environment
App Control Server: All Supported Versions
ODBC Driver 18 installed
Cause
App Control Version is not compatible with ODBC driver 18 at this time.
ODBC Driver 18 is installed. Either by manual installation or often through updates.
Resolution
Uninstall ODBC Driver 18 from Add and Remove Programs.
Confirm ODBC Driver 17 or 13 is installed. ODBC Driver 17 can be installed from Microsoft downloads page.
Open services.msc
Restart the App Control Server and App Control Reporter services.
