Issue/Introduction

  • vCenter Server is showing as disconnected in the VMware Cloud Director (VCD) Provider UI (Resources > Infrastructure Resources > vCenter Server Instances).
  • The following error is observed in /opt/vmware/vcloud-director/logs/vcloud-container-debug.log:

Caused by: com.vmware.vim.vmomi.client.common.UnexpectedStatusCodeException: Unexpected status code: 503

Environment

VMware Cloud Director 10.6.x

Cause

The vCenter services are unavailable, as indicated by a 503 status code. This can be caused by an unexpected vCenter reboot, a VCHA(vCenter High Availability) failover, or other service interruptions.

Resolution

Verify that the vCenter Server services are running and accessible.
