After restoring the ESXi configuration, the image becomes non-compliant.

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms

• After restoring the ESXi configuration, the following error is displayed in vLCM:
  Host not compatible with the image
• The non-compliant component is “VMware-VM-Tools”.

Environment

VMware vSphere ESXi 7.x
VMware vSphere ESXi 8.x
VMware vCenter Server 7.x
VMware vCenter Server 8.x

Cause

“VMware-VM-Tools” are not included in the backup of the ESXi host configuration.

Resolution

Perform remediation to bring it into compliance with the image.

1. In the vSphere Client, navigate to a cluster.
2. On the Updates tab, select Hosts > Image.
3. On the " Image Compliance" card, select the host and execute "Remediate"
