"IP Block Usage Very High" alarm event in NSX 4.2 even if IpBlock usage is low

Issue/Introduction

• "IP Block Usage Very High" alarm will be seen.
• Observed IP block usage is not high, possibly under 50%.

Environment

VMware NSX

Cause

Updating a pool subnet, such as updating its description or display-name, can incorrectly add to the usage due to a calculation that re-adds the subnet. 

Resolution

This is a known issue impacting VMware NSX.

 

There is no functional impact. Acknowledge the alarm to prevent it repeatedly appearing in the NSX UI. Where possible, avoid updating IP Pool/Block metadata (such as description or display-name)
