Issue/Introduction

Symptom:

  • Power on failure prompt with error "No host is compatible with the virtual machine" is seen for the VM.



  • Dedicated failover hosts are enabled on vSphere HA, and the VMs are registered on the dedicated failover hosts.

Environment

VMware vSphere ESXi 7.x

VMware vSphere ESXi 8.x

Cause

The VMs cannot be powered on on dedicated failover hosts.
This is normal behavior.

Resolution

Migrate VMs to an ESXi host other than the dedicated failover host and power it on.
