Issue/Introduction

How can User Exit and External Action Block code be saved without having to keep track of its location in files or data sets?

Environment

Gen Workstation Toolset

Resolution

User Exit and External Action Block code can be saved in a model using the Toolset's Inline Code statement.  Putting the code in a model will save the code for future reference since models are stored in an encyclopedia.

Additional Information

RECOMMENDATION:

  1. Create a separate model or separate Business System to house the code.
  2. Create a separate Action Block for each User Exit and each EAB.

NOTE:

  1. Do not attempt to generate these stored User Exit and EAB Action Blocks as they are meant for storage only and not meant to circumvent the normal processing of this code.
  2.  The Toolset has a setting for each model which limits the number of characters allowed in an Inline Code statement.  This setting can be seen in the Toolset by opening a model then selecting Model / Settings / Model Preferences.
