Issue/Introduction

Guest OS customization does not work on a SUSE Linux Enterprise 16.0 virtual machine

Environment

• vCenter Server 8.0
• vCenter Server 9.0

Cause

The networking stack in SUSE Linux Enterprise 16.0 now uses NetworkManager. The previous networking stack, Wicked has been removed. See release notes here

Guest OS customization fails as the NetworkManager keyfile profile support has NOT been added to SUSE Linux Enterprise 16.0.

Resolution

This issue has been resolved in vCenter Server 8.0Update 3g Build 24853646 and vCenter Server 9.0.1.0 Build 24957454
