Issue/Introduction

  • During a upgrade one of the nodes is showing a failed status on the Host section.
  • The upgrade is done as the ESXi Host is now on target version, but no option works to change the Status, tried to reboot the ESXi, Retry and Refresh option but without success.
  • Checking the status of ESXi host in NSX UI System>Fabric>Hosts. and click on vie details of affected ESXi host:
    • NSX Configuration -> Success
    • Status -> Up
    • NSX Version -> newly upgraded version
    • Controller connectivity -> Up
    • Manager connectivity -> Up
    • Configuration State ->  Success

Cause

As confirmed over NSX UI, NSX upgrade has been completed on ESXi host and it was in healthy state but the Upgrade Coordinator failed to get the status of ESXi host.

Resolution

  • Use the "Reset To Default" Option which will reload NSX Upgrade Coordinator Hosts section:

  • The failed host should be updated and now should show "Success" status.
