Issue/Introduction

Updating the vCenter 8.0.3 with ISO file is failing with errors below even after you have checked the integrity of the file with the KB  "Manifest Verification Failed" Error when attempting to update VCSA via ISO image through the VAMI

and you have checked the integrity of the file once it has been transferred to the vCenter:

  • The CD drive does not have a valid patch ISO or has an unsupported version
  • Manifest verification failed
DEBUG:vmware.appliance.update.update_b2b:discoverLocalUpdate failed. Preparing message {'id': 'com.vmware.appliance.update.manifest_verification_failed', 'default_message': 'Manifest verification failed', 'args': []}
INFO:vmware.vherd.base.software_update:The CD drive does not have a valid patch ISO or has an unsupported version

  • You have also tried to clear the cache:
service-control --stop applmgmt
rm -rf /storage/core/software-update/updates
rm -rf /storage/updatemgr/software-*
rm /etc/applmgmt/appliance/software_update_state.conf
rm /storage/db/patching.db*
rm -r /storage/core/software-update/*
service-control --start applmgmt
  • As the last step you have tried to open an SSH session to the vCenter VM, and run the command to eject the current ISO
"eject /dev/cdrom"
