Getting error, "VCF Business Services console Test Failed due to "Http failure response for https://<FQDN>/api/v1/run_uploader: 500 OK" while testing Connection with VCF Business Services console portal"

Issue/Introduction

Usage Meter is unable to send data to the VCF Business Services console portal (formerly known as Cloud Partner Navigator - CPN) and fails with below error: 

"Http failure response for https://<FQDN>/UM/api/v1/run_uploader: 500 OK". Please open a ticket with Broadcom support at https://support.broadcom.com/." for VCF Business Services console.

 

Upon performing connection request with curl command, and it is successful.

Caused by: javax.net.ssl.SSLPeerUnverifiedException: Hostname UsageMeter_FQDN not verified:
    certificate: sha256/xxxxxxxxxxxx/c=
    DN: CN=UsageMeter_FQDN,O=local,ST=Some-State,C=US
    subjectAltNames: []

When navigating to Usage Meter UI > Cloud / Cloud Foundation > vCenter, a connection error or credential verification failure is displayed for vCenter usage collection.

Cause

Usage meter certificate is missing Subject Alternative Name as per X.509 v3 standard.

Resolution

Required to secure a snapshot of the Usage Meter appliance and follow the below steps:

• Update the hostname in /etc/hosts file using vi editor.
• Replace Usage Meter certificate by following the document: VCF Usage Meter Certificate Management
