Issue/Introduction

  • Hosts show either of the following Validation Error in NSX-T UI under: System > Fabric > Hosts > NSX Configuration:

Or

9881: Unable to fetch host hardware and network compute information associated with <Host UUID> from inventory. Error is : com.vmware.nsx.management.inventory.access.vc.ComputeManagerNotRegisteredException: Compute manager <Compute manager UUID>  is not registered, it has status as COMPUTE_MANAGER_REGISTRATION_STATUS_REGISTERING
  • Compute Manager shows Connection Status Down

Environment

VMware NSX
VMware NSX-T Data Center

Cause

Connection to compute manager was or is down, preventing NSX from synchronizing host information from vCenter.

Resolution

  1. Restore connection to the compute manager by re-entering the credentials for vCenter and saving the configuration:
System > Fabric > Compute Managers > Edit > FQDN or IP Address
After the vCenter Server certificate is replaced, the compute manager connection is "Down" in the NSX UI

  2. Trigger an update for the host individually by selecting it:
System > Fabric > Hosts > Configure NSX

  3. NSX Configuration status will show success after.
