Modification of ESXi role privileges does not persist after reboot.

Issue/Introduction

When ESXi role privileges are updated, they do not persist after ESXi reboot.

Cause

ESXi fails to save updates to persistent storage.

The issue is limited to modification of existing roles.

Privileges granted during role creation remain after reboot.

Resolution

This issue has been resolved in 8.0U3.

 

Additional Information

Workaround:

As a workaround, updated privileges can be saved by creating a dummy role.

1. Edit the privileges of the role you want to modify.
2. Create a dummy role.
3. Delete a dummy role.
