Issue/Introduction

  • After upgrading to VMware Aria operations 8.16.x and above, you will get to see repeated alerts as below:

"SDDC Config Notification - vCenter OS Credentials Missing. Services may not be discovered for this vCenter. Please Configure the VC HOST OS Credential in Inventory Explorer"

Environment

VMware Aria operations 8.16.x
VMware Aria operations 8.17.x
VMware Aria operations 8.18.x

Cause

This is an expected behavior as part of performance optimization where the credentials should be owned by AI resources only, the object type was RK = vCenter Server of AK = SDDC Health Adapter.

Resolution

SDDC Health Management Pack that was End Of General Support on June 17 2025 as per KB Broadcom is announcing End of General Support (EOGS) for the following VCF Operations management packs, effective June 17 2025

Workaround

Disabling the alert from the policy using one of the below steps:

1. Deactivate the alert from Active policy:

    1. Select the Active policy.
    2. Click Edit Policy, then click Alerts and Symptoms.
    3. Filter for the alert, "Notification".
    4. Change the State from activate to deactivate.
    5. Click Save to finish.

2. Create a new policy and deactivate the alert from the new policy:

    1. Create a new policy which inherits the active policy.
    2. Directly assign the SDDC adapter objects to the newly created policy.
    3. Edit the newly created policy, then click Alerts and Symptoms.
    4. Filter for the alert, "Notification".
    5. Change the State from activate to deactivate.
    6. Click Save to finish.

NOTE: If you have LCM then you will only loose the Health Status in LCM.
There are multiple alert definitions with the name "Notification". Make sure that the correct "Notification" alert is deactivated in the policy. Once deactivated, verify the correct "Notification" alert is disabled from the Configure > Alerts > Alert Definitions > Policies Enabled section as shown below.
