Issue/Introduction

Reduced Downtime vCenter Upgrade is a new feature being introduced VCF 5.2.1. It is required to let customers know system requirements to perform vCenter upgrade successfully.

The System requirements can be referred from here : Reduced Downtime Upgrade vCenter

We should also mention the below as a note to customers with in the KB article itself.

"The VCF on-demand pre-checks for vCenter are just a part of all the checks we conduct. Additional checks are also carried out during the upgrade process"

Environment

VCF 5.2.1

Cause

The VCF on-demand prechecks can not detect all the pre requisites for vCenter RDU upgrade, many of the prechecks will be executed as part of the upgrade operation itself, hence we would like to let customers know about the system requirements before they start the actual upgrade operation.

Resolution

In the on-demand precheck workflows which are executed during planning will run the respective target specific prechecks and if any issues they will be notified in that workflow. In case of RDU, the on-demand target prechecks are not integrated with RDU prechecks. So users will not be notified if there any capacity issues.

As a workaround till this is fixed, this article will be used to notify the users again about the additional requirements for RDU compared to B2B.
