Issue/Introduction
Multiple copies of a vApp are present in the Cloud Director UI.
A large number of empty vApps are present in the Cloud Director UI.
Deleting a vApp fails with error: "The address x.x.x.x did not belong to any known host".
The backup solution is showing many vApps without Virtual Machines (VMs). These VMs have been deleted from VMware Cloud Director (VCD) so they only exist in the VCD database.
Environment
VMware Cloud Director 10.4.x
VMware Cloud Director 10.5.x
Resolution
Delete the vApps from the Cloud Director UI.
If the number of vApps is large, you can leverage the API to remove this programmatically.
Should the delete via the UI and/or API fail, please create a Cloud Director Database backup and get in touch with Broadcom Support.
Additional Information
Residual references to associated networks can hinder the deletion process. Therefore, it's advisable to first remove the networks and virtual machines, and subsequently delete the vApp.
