Recommended steps to migrate from Player edition to Pro edition

Cause

Users who are using player edition for personal use or commercial use purposes and looking for migrating to pro edition needs to follow below steps for the desired results

Resolution

Fusion Player

1. Perform clean uninstallation of Player, please follow the steps mentioned in How to Uninstall VMware Fusion Manually
2. Please ensure the old licenses are cleaned up in the system

Note: Make sure there is no license file having prefix license-fusion* at "/Library/Preferences/VMware Fusion"

Player on Windows

1. Perform Installation of  Workstation Pro

Player on Linux

1. Perform uninstallation of Player using the below command
   

   sudo vmware-installer -u vmware-player

   Ensure the old licenses are cleaned up in the system
   Make sure there is no license file having prefix license-fusion* at "/etc/vmware"

2. Proceed with Installation of  Workstation Pro
