Issue/Introduction

This article provides procedures for obtaining diagnostic information for VMware vCenter Update Manager.

VMware Technical Support routinely request diagnostic information from you when a support request is handled. This diagnostic information contains product specific logs and configuration files from the host on which the product is run. The information is gathered using a specific script or tool for each product.

The diagnostic information collected can then be uploaded to VMware Technical Support. To uniquely identify your information, use the Support Request (SR) number you receive when you open your Support Request.

    Notes:
    • Usually, vCenter Server is installed on the same server as VMware vCenter Update Manager. However, it can be installed on a different server.
    • Ensure that you are not blocked by UAC and do not have any group policies that prevent you from running the utility.
    • You may have to run the utility using the Run As option.

  • Click Start > All Programs > VMware > Generate Update Manager log bundle.

Note: For newer versions of Windows put in the Search Box Generate Update Manager log bundle to find the executable.
