OVF Template Deployment from the content library fails with "Value "Isilogic" of ResourceSubType element not found in [VirtualSCSl)"

Issue/Introduction

OVF deployment wizard shows the following error while selecting destination host/cluster:

Details: - 53:7:VALUE_lLLEGAL: Value "Isilogic" of ResourceSubType element not found in [VirtualSCSl). - 69:7: VALUE_ILLEGAL: value "3" of Parent element does not refer to a ref of type DiskControllerReference. - 78:7:VALUE_lLLEGAL: Value "3" of Parent element does not refer to a ref of type DiskControllerReference.

Environment

VMware vCenter Server 8.0

Cause

Noticed with Redhat 8 VMs.

The VM from which template is created will have LSI logic SAS configured on the scsi controller. For Redhat 8 VMs, LSI logic SAS is not supported. For further info, see the Broadcom Compatibility Guide.

Following alert appears in VM edit settings:

Resolution

Change the virtual scsi controller to VMware paravirtual.
