Resolution
Important: Before upgrading your vSphere environment, VMware strongly recommends to review documentation to ensure that vSphere Upgrade Guide including best practices are followed.
This table consists and provide more insights to better plan your vSphere upgrade depending on your versions that are running on your environment.
Guidance for Evaluating an upgrade
- If you need to update multiple products in your environment, start with updating the product with the lowest sequence number.
- After you update the product, update the product with the next sequence number.
- If a product is not present in your environment, update the subsequent product.
- If you need to update two products with the same sequence number, the order of update does not matter.

- Overview of vSphere 6.5 Upgrade Process
- Ensure that you have quiesced, stopped or disabled integrations, VMware 2nd Party or 3rd Party products, that connect to vCenter Server during the upgrade process.
- vRealize Automation, vRealize Business for Cloud, and vRealize Orchestrator 7.x releases use an embedded vIDM and are independent of SSO. These can be upgraded independently and at any place in the order.
- vRealize Automation and vRealize Business for Cloud relies on SSO and must be upgraded in sequence.
