VMware Aria Suite VMware Aria Operations (formerly vRealize Operations) 8.x

Issue/Introduction

1. Cannot collect metrics from adapters in Aria Operations.
2. No metrics showing in Dashboard integration widgets.
3. The Inventory view in the Home Page of Aria Operations is not loading as expected.
4. The Alarm Bell icon shows an adapter with the "Object down" error
5. Status of the adapter instance is Warning
5. Hovering over this Warning status you will receive a message similar to: 
    Certificate validation failed
    Unable to connect due to invalid username or password
6. Administrative Alerts similar to these are displayed:
    Adapter instance Object is down
    Objects are not receiving data from adapter instance

Environment

Aria Operations 8.17x

Aria Operations 8.18x

Cause

Connectivity has failed between the configured endpoint and Aria Operations due to an expired, renewed certificate or invalid credentials.

Resolution

For Aria Operations version 8.17.x and below, please follow the below steps:

  • On the left pane, click Data Sources -> Integrations
  • Select the particular adapter and select Edit
  • Click Validate Connection.
  • Correct the credentials if prompted they are incorrect.
  • A prompt comes up asking the user to import the associated certificate. Click OK.
  • Save the configuration.
  • Stop and Start collection on the adapter.

For Aria Operations version 8.18.x and above, please follow the below steps:

  • On the left pane, click Administration -> Integrations
  • Select the particular adapter and select Edit.
  • Click Validate Connection.
  • Correct the credentials if prompted they are incorrect.
  • A prompt comes up asking the user to import the associated certificate. Click OK.
  • Save the configuration.
  • Stop and Start collection on the adapter.
